BOOKS
Descending to Blue is a poetry collection that expresses true being. With this compilation, Robert A. Morris balances intellect with inspiration while utilizing a musician’s awareness of repetition and rhythm. His verses are steeped in the dialect of the American South. Though at times, he incorporates more esoteric influences to give this manuscript a universal sophistication. He uses various narrators and perspectives to acknowledge the beauty of melancholia then summons the bravado to rise above it. This is writing from a place of transition, not comfort. It rivals emptiness, encouraging the reader to take the time to stop, to admire, to grieve, and to grow.
